I honestly love living in the Midwest and getting to experience the change of seasons every year. However, if there is one season my skin does not agree with it’s winter. So I have to take extra steps this time of year to make sure my skin stays healthy and doesn’t dry out. The first and most important thing I do is make sure I’m using a body scrub at least three times a week. During the summer months, I’ll usually scrub once a week, but this time a year, the more often the better!
My current go to are these handmade, non-toxic hand and body scrubs! I just finished using the candy cane scrub which was a holiday special and have just opened the lavender scrub. The smell and texture are absolutely amazing! These are also perfect to leave next to the bathroom sink to exfoliate your hands. Your guests will thank you!
Lotus Soap Shop is a one woman shop out of Pittsburgh. She started the company pretty much on accident. The scrubs were a homemade gifts that she was making for family and friends for the holidays. However, those family and friends fell in love with them and the next thing she knew, Lotus Soap Shop was born! You can read more about her story here.
All of the scrubs are handcrafted and made with natural and organic ingredients. The two I tested out are made up of a sea salt base, organic virgin coconut oil, red jojoba beads, fresh lavender and a combination of essential oils. Both of the scrubs smell amazing but they work even better. Not only do they exfoliate really well, they also leave a trail of coconut oil behind to helps to lock in moisture.
